Nyarugenge Prison: 38 inmates, members of Anglican Church received the Sacrament of Confirmation

The ceremony took place at Nyarugenge Prison, located in Nyarugenge District yesterday on September 4th, 2013 and has been administered by Bishop Louis Muvunyi, Anglican Bishop of Kigali Diocese. This ceremony was also attended by the Deputy Commissioner General of Rwanda Correctional Service, DCGP Mary Gahonzire. During the mass celebrated from 10:00 to 11:50 am, thirty eight (38) inmates from Anglican Church received the sacrament of Confirmation.

During this ceremony, Bishop Louis Muvunyi reminded the inmates who received the Sacrament of Confirmation that by this sacrament they were more perfectly bound to the Church and were enriched with a special strength of the Holy Spirit. Hence, they were, as true witness of Christ, more strictly obliged to spread and defend the faith by word and deed.

Bishop Louis Muvunyi urged these inmates who received the Sacrament of Confirmation to be characterized by faith, hope, charity and unity.

In her remarks,the Deputy Commissioner General of RCS, DCGP Mary Gahonzire expressed her gratitude to the Anglican Church for its good collaboration with Rwanda Correctional Service aiming the rehabilitation of the inmates.

In her address to the Christians of Anglican Church in Nyarugenge Prison, DCGP Mary asked them to be exemplary in discipline and to serve their sentences as well as required, so that after, they will join other Rwandans in the development of their country.
