This graduation marked the completion of a three months training programme for middle management officers which was witnessed by Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Service Deputy Commissioner General Social Ndanga and his Namibian counterpart Deputy Commissioner General Anna Rose Katjevina.
During the event, CG Chilukutu expressed his desire for Nyango Correctional Staff Training College to be upgraded to a regional training hub for Correctional Officers in the SADC Region and to the rest of Africa to meet the ever-increasing human capacity needs.
CG Chilukutu further called for the need to continue working together as Correctional/Prison Services if this dream is to be actualized.
During the event CIP Wilson Kabagambe from Rwanda Correctional Service moved a vote of thanks on behalf of other trainees where he expressed his thankful on behalf of other participants to good existing collaboration between ZCS and the rest of the institutions in the region including going beyond to EAC where Rwanda belongs. He promised that they as trainees comit to put to good use all the skills and knowledge gained from the school through Professional trainers to the better performance of their respective prisons and Correctional Services.
The 3 months training course which commenced in March 2024 drew a total of 167 trainees with Zambia having 154, Zimbabwe and Namibia with five each while Rwanda sent three trainees.
