Nyagatare Juvenile Correctional Facility, has a uniqueness for children who have committed crimes but not aged to be in adult Correctional Facility, in order to serve their sentences according to special treatment and attention they need, Nyagatare is one of correctional Facility selected to those children for special care in order to continue school program according to the class he was in before committing a crime.

The Government of Rwanda has established this program in order to ensure that a child who has fallen into a crime continues to be cared for, when he/she will finish their sentences will not be left behind in education. In last years those who have passed the final exams and succeeded well, have had an opportunity to be pardoned by His Excellency the President of the Republic then continue their education in external schools they have been assigned to, so that the sentences they had been serving are automatically removed.

Among the program that the Government of Rwanda has planned in Nyagatare Juvenile Correctional Facility are to teach by professions and to give them knowledge depending on the choice him or her, that skills they get will help them when they return in their families to improve their lives even the country at all.

In the regular teaching correctional Facility, government added another option  of Mathematics, Economics and Computer Sciences (MEC) where students will sit for National Examination 2024/2025, because they will be in senior six as a candidate of  E- Level National Exam.

It’s like habit that every year the children who have sat for National exam in above mentioned classes, none has failed, and the program use by the children of  Nyagatare Juvenile CF is the same as others schools, where can be the evident that the children there are well treated.
