The event took place in a conference room at the RCS headquarters where the RCS Commissioner General, CG Evariste Murenzi and CP Janet Georges Commissioner of Seychelles Prisons Service signed a Memorandum of Understanding in cooperation within two institutions to share training, research and Knowledge between staff for further improvements in their daily work and responsibilities.

In a statement, the Commissioner of Prisons in Seychelles, CP Janet Georges, said that this Memorandum was the result from agreements signed between the two countries in various sectors.

She said “During the recent visit of Rwandan President Paul Kagame in Seychelles, there were various cooperation agreements signed between the two countries in various sectors. Last year we visited Rwanda and found that they were good workers. When we returned back home, we felt it was an appropriate time to sign a Memorandum to provide us with training in various training programs because you are at a good level. We already have a shortage of manpower, that is why we need a partnership as we work with Tanzania today, and we hope that we will have good cooperation.”

This Memorandum signed, is for the purpose of cooperation between the two institutions, including sharing knowledge and experience through training and assisting the Seychelles prisons staff to move from prison system to correction system.
