The projects inaugurated are the roads Nyamitanga-Rubingo-Rulindo (5,5km), Nyaburiba-Nyamitanga- Muko (7km), Nyaburiba-Nyamabuye-Gatsata (4,5km). Those roads are located in Jali Sector in Gasabo District.

The Commissioner General of RCS inaugurated also ten houses destined to the homeless families built in Jabana Sector, Gasabo District.

During this ceremony, the Commissioner General of RCS noted the importance of the roads constructed, which facilitate the exchange and communication between local administrative entities. CGP Paul Rwarakabije urged the beneficiaries to maintain those roads as well as possible.

As for the ten houses built in Jabana Sector, which are destined to genocide survivors, the Commissioner General of RCS noted that the Rwandan Government is ever thinking on how to enhance the general welfare of Rwandans especially the vulnerable.

The Mayor of Gasabo District, Mr. Willy Ndizeye pointed out that the different projects implemented by genocide convicts and inmates help the District to achieve its performance contracts (Imihigo). Thus, he acclaimed the good partnership existing between Rwanda Correctional Service (RCS) and Gasabo District.

One of the beneficiaries hailed the Government of Rwanda for providing houses to them.

“We thank the Government of Rwanda for its unwavering support to the survivors of the 1994 genocide especially in the provision of houses,” one genocide survivor expressed gratitude.

“We were homeless but today we have got houses and I am very grateful” added one of the beneficiaries

After that ceremony, the Commissioner General of RCS visited the reference technical school under construction by inmates of Gasabo Prison located in Nyarutarama Cell, Remera Sector, Gasabo District.
