CG Murenzi Receives Namibia’s Deputy Chief Justice and Delegation on a Learning Visit Focused to Justice and IECMS system

The visit focused on learning from Rwanda’s Integrated Electronic Case Management System (IECMS), a technology-driven tool used within justice institutions to streamline operations and improve service delivery.

They were briefed on the benefits of IECMS in enhancing operational efficiency, command oversight, transparency, data security, mobility, accessibility, and system interoperability across justice sector institutions.

The Namibian delegation was also introduced to various mechanisms Rwanda uses to facilitate access to justice including timely justice, plea bargaining, conditional release (parole), community service as an alternative sentence, halfway homes for reintegration, and the provision of legal aid for vulnerable individuals.

Hon. Petrus Damaseb said he is happy with IECMS functions.

In his remarks, Hon. Petrus Damaseb stated that their visit was intended to draw lessons from Rwanda’s digital justice advancements. He noted that Namibia is also seeking to embrace modern justice reforms and that the knowledge gained would inform the development of a similar system back home. He emphasized the value of continued collaboration between the two countries in this area.
