The Commissioner General also thanked the Ministry of Health for its daily good collaboration to assure the regular follow-up of the health of the inmates.
The main objectives of this seminar were to lay the foundation of public health as a key element for the understanding and management of health in prisons and to familiarize prisons’ staff with a global view on health in detention.
This seminar which took place on 18/04/2013 at Nobleza hotel was attended by Prisons’ Directors, social workers, District Hospitals’ Directors, prisons’ health staff and the staff from the Ministry of Internal Security in charge of health coordination.

The Commissioner General of RCS told the participants that it is imperative that the main members of the prison system are capable of understanding the bases of the public health and their applicability in prison.
The Commissioner General of RCS hailed the International Committee of the Red Cross for its support to RCS in the field of the health. “I doubtless think that this good collaboration will be always considerable in the next years, because we shall always need their support in this field” added CGP Paul Rwarakabije
He asked to the participants to follow as well as required the presentations planned during this one and to converge always on the good health in prisons and good treatment of the prisoners.
“So, as the ICRC always plays a considerable role in the improvement of the health in prisons in Rwanda, I am sure that the agents who benefit from this seminar are going to be the mainspring of the good health of the prisoners” ended CGP Paul Rwarakabije.
