The symposium, jointly facilitated by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), aimed to enhance knowledge on the protection of civilians during hostilities, including the protection of war prisoners.

High Officials from various institutions attend this Symposium held in Grand Legacy Hotel,Kigali.

The Officials from the Rwanda Defence Force (RDF), Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation(MINAFET), Ministry in Charge of Emergency Management(MINEMA), National Intelligence and Security Services (NISS), Rwanda National Police (RNP), Rwanda correctional Service(RCS), Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB) and other relevant institutions attended the event, which was officiated by Brigadier General C. Mujuni, in charge of military operations in RDF.

The event underscores the importance of adhering to international humanitarian law and principles in promoting peace, security, conflict management and human rights.

RCS Spokesperson Chief Supt Hillary SENGABO participated in this Symposium.
