{"id":3388,"date":"2022-01-04T10:34:59","date_gmt":"2022-01-04T10:34:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.rcs.gov.rw\/en\/?p=1687"},"modified":"2025-10-06T12:13:39","modified_gmt":"2025-10-06T10:13:39","slug":"gicumbi-prison","status":"publish","type":"rcs_prisons","link":"https:\/\/rcs.gov.rw\/?rcs_prisons=gicumbi-prison&lang=en","title":{"rendered":"Gicumbi Correctional Facility"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Gicumbi Correctional Facility was built in Kabere Village, Butare Cell, Nyankenke Sector, Gicumbi District, Northern Province.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gicumbi Correctional Facility was built in 1975 and was formerly a rehabilitation facility for women wanderers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 1996, after the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi, The Correctional Facility housed women convicted of both genocide-related crimes and other crimes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It was in 2003 that the Correctional Facility started to receive inmates from Byumba Prison.
