The visit stated \u00a0by paying a courtesy call to the Hon. Minister Jack MWIIMBU of Home Affairs and Internal\u00a0 Security- Zambia . The CG- RCS \u00a0later proceeded to the Zambia Correctional \u00a0Service\u00a0 headquarters\u00a0 in \u00a0Kabwe and was \u00a0given a warm\u00a0 welcome by his\u00a0 Counterpart-CGP Fredrick S.S CHILUKUTU.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is important to recall that a memorandum of\u00a0 understanding (MoU) on\u00a0 Cooperation in the field of Correctional Service was signed on 3rd<\/sup> December \u00a02020 during the 7th<\/sup> joint\u00a0 Permanent \u00a0Commission \u00a0for Cooperation (JPCC) meeting \u00a0between \u00a0Rwanda and Zambia . Among\u00a0 the areas of Cooperation stipulated in this MoU \u00a0are\u00a0 Joint\u00a0 projects to realize Common objectives and improved Correctional practices, exchange programs \u00a0for training of \u00a0Correctional staffs, Information \u00a0exchange \u00a0relevant \u00a0to Correctional \u00a0practices and Education tours . The implementation guidelines\u00a0 were also signed \u00a0in \u00a0Kigali on 26th<\/sup> April 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To enhance this Cooperation \u00a0in \u00a0June 2021, \u00a0Zambia \u00a0Correctional \u00a0Offered \u00a0\u00a0seven (7) \u00a0Slots to Rwanda Correctional\u00a0 Service\u00a0 where by , \u00a0Five(5) in \u2013 Services \u00a0Correctional \u00a0Officers \u00a0including one female \u00a0and \u00a04 males \u00a0were \u00a0able to undergo\u00a0 \u00a0cadet \u00a0course \u00a0training \u00a0in \u00a0Zambia while \u00a0two (2) \u00a0instructors \u00a0went \u00a0to share \u00a0knowledge \u00a0and \u00a0skills with their fellow\u00a0 instructors\u00a0 ZCS. The \u00a0Courses \u00a0took \u00a0six \u00a0months (June- December 2021).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During \u00a0this \u00a0visit,\u00a0 the CG-RCS \u00a0and \u00a0his \u00a0team \u00a0will \u00a0be \u00a0able \u00a0to \u00a0benchmark \u00a0in \u00a0the \u00a0areas \u00a0of \u00a0production activities \u00a0of \u00a0which \u00a0the \u00a0leaned \u00a0model \u00a0would \u00a0be \u00a0used \u00a0to \u00a0enhance \u00a0on RCS \u00a0production \u00a0management trends , on \u00a0their \u00a0rehabilitation process especially\u00a0 \u00a0through open\u00a0 \u00a0space \u00a0prisons \u00a0\u00a0which \u00a0would \u00a0be linked \u00a0to \u00a0the \u00a0halfway \u00a0\u00a0social \u00a0reintegration\u00a0 \u00a0centers\u00a0 \u00a0that \u00a0are being \u00a0proposed \u00a0to \u00a0be \u00a0implemented \u00a0in the\u00a0 \u00a0near \u00a0future\u00a0 \u00a0in \u00a0Rwanda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other \u00a0areas \u00a0of \u00a0benchmarking\u00a0 \u00a0interest\u00a0 \u00a0will\u00a0 be training, \u00a0\u00a0Research \u00a0and \u00a0development\u00a0 \u00a0with \u00a0the \u00a0aim \u00a0to learn \u00a0best \u00a0\u00a0training \u00a0and \u00a0research\u00a0 \u00a0practices \u00a0as \u00a0RCS looks \u00a0\u00a0forward\u00a0 \u00a0to having \u00a0a\u00a0 \u00a0professionalized \u00a0and \u00a0\u00a0research-based\u00a0 \u00a0training \u00a0\u00a0school\u00a0 \u00a0with\u00a0 \u00a0all \u00a0the \u00a0required\u00a0 \u00a0standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
